Dead Cute Studio (“we,” “us,” “our”) operates deadcutestudio.com (the “Site”). This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
By using the Site or placing an order, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here.
1. Who We Are
Dead Cute Studio is a print-on-demand apparel brand based in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. If you have questions about this policy or your personal information, contact us at hi@deadcutestudio.com or call +1 (604) 330-0703.
2. Information We Collect
Information you give us directly:
- Name, email address, shipping and billing address, and phone number (when you place an order or contact us)
- Order details (items purchased, size/color selections, order history)
- Any information you provide through our contact form or when reaching out to us directly
Information collected automatically:
- Standard technical data (IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited) via cookies and similar technologies, used for site functionality and basic analytics
Payment information:
- We use a third-party payment processor to handle payments. We do not collect or store your full credit card number, CVV, or other sensitive payment card details on our own systems — that information is handled directly by our payment processor in accordance with their own privacy and security practices.
Marketing information:
- If you subscribe to our newsletter or otherwise opt in, your email address is added to our email marketing platform, Klaviyo, so we can send you updates about new drops, promotions, and brand news. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any marketing email.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Process and fulfill your orders, including shipping and customer service
- Communicate with you about your order (confirmations, shipping updates, issues)
- Send marketing communications, if you’ve opted in, via Klaviyo
- Respond to inquiries submitted through our contact form
- Improve and maintain the Site
- Meet legal and accounting obligations
4. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as needed to run the business:
- Our payment processor — to process payment for your order
- Tapstitch, our print-on-demand fulfillment partner — receives your name, shipping address, and order details in order to print and ship your items. All orders, regardless of destination, are fulfilled via Tapstitch’s China Special Line, which means your name and shipping address are transferred to and processed in China for fulfillment purposes.
- Klaviyo — to manage email marketing, if you’ve opted in
- WooCommerce / hosting infrastructure — the underlying platform that runs our Site and stores order data
- Shipping carriers, as needed to deliver your order
- Law enforcement or other parties, only if required by law or to protect our legal rights
5. Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep the Site functioning properly (e.g., remembering items in your cart) and for basic analytics. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling them may affect Site functionality (e.g., the cart may not work correctly).
6. Data Retention
We retain order and customer information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy, including any applicable legal, accounting, or tax requirements. Marketing information is retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion.
7. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your information
- Withdraw consent to marketing at any time (unsubscribe link, or contact us directly)
Canadian customers have rights under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
If you are in the EU/UK, you also have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including the right to access, rectify, or erase your personal data, restrict or object to processing, request data portability, and lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
If you are a California resident, you have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we collect and how it’s used, the right to delete your personal information, and the right to non-discrimination for exercising these rights. We do not sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hi@deadcutestudio.com or call +1 (604) 330-0703.
8. International Data Transfers
As noted in Section 4, all orders — regardless of destination, including orders shipping within Canada — are fulfilled via a facility in China, meaning your name and shipping address are transferred there for fulfillment purposes. By placing an order, you acknowledge this transfer.
9. Children’s Privacy
The Site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 13 without parental consent.
10. Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your personal information, but no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date. Continued use of the Site after changes means you accept the updated policy.
